About this generation
The Tatra 813 was introduced in 1967 as a heavy-duty all-terrain truck based on Tatra's modular backbone chassis concept. Developed from the Tatra 138 architecture, the 813 was offered in 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 configurations and became particularly known for the extreme 8x8 Kolos heavy-haulage version. It combined independent swing-axle suspension, portal reduction gears and a large air-cooled V12 diesel with exceptional off-road mobility.
