About this generation

The first-generation Tatra 111 was introduced in 1942 as a heavy-duty 6x6 truck developed from the Tatra 81. It established the characteristic Tatra backbone chassis, independent swing-axle suspension and air-cooled V12 diesel architecture that would define the 111 throughout its long production run. Early trucks used wood-based cabs, reflecting wartime material shortages.
